Mihály Schwechtje is a Hungarian film and theater director and university lecturer. In 2020 he was awarded the Contemporary Hungarian Drama Award (Kortárs Magyar Dráma-díj).In his recent projects, he is confronting our contemporary society’s phenomena to personal dramas. His first feature film, Hope You’ll Die Next Time ☺, talks about the young victims of cyberbullying while it is about the unconfessable love. The film was professionally and critically acclaimed and amassed great audience success. He was a university lecturer at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, now Head of Studies at Metropolitan Film University, at ELTE Film Deartment and a member of Freeszfe Society. He has a PHD in Arts and presenting soon his second fiction feature film A Hunt For Hedgehogs. Since 2019 he is active as a theater director as well, his most successful play so far, The Legacy, which is also translated to Slovakian. His latest premier was a musical science fiction about the incel subculture.
